Care the Carers Campaign – Carer-friendly Commendation Scheme
- SWD has launched a three-year territory-wide publicity campaign, “Care the Carers Campaign” (the Campaign) since 2023-24 with a yearly theme. In the first year, under the theme of “Helping Carers Help Themselves”, publicity focused on encouraging carers to help themselves. In the second year, under the theme of “Walk with Carers”, publicity emphasised standing by carers. In the third year, under the theme of “Fostering a Carer-Friendly Community”, publicity will focus on fostering a community environment that supports carers. Based on the yearly theme, SWD carries out different promotional activities to raise public awareness of the importance and needs of carers (including carers for the elderly, persons with disabilities/ persons in mental recovery), promote mutual help in the community and cultivate a carer-friendly environment.
- The publicity activities include production of Television and Radio Announcements in the Public Interest, production of short videos on carers’ stories, organising kick-start event, short video competition, production of publicity materials and posters, organising carer-centric programmes and public education activities, etc. For details, please visit SWD website: Support to the Carers of Elderly Persons or Support to the Carers of Persons with Disabilities/Persons in Mental Recovery
- In response to the 2025-26 theme of “Fostering a Carer-friendly Community”, the “Care the Carers Campaign – Carer-friendly Commendation Scheme” (the Scheme) will be held. Through self-nomination or nominated by others, the vetting panel will select the “touching carers”, “carer-friendly neighbours”, and “carer-friendly employers” to honour and recognise their efforts and contributions while also raising community awareness of carers and fostering an environment that supports carers.
